A Special Place

I walk through the lush green forest,
my long brown hair flowing,
Like a lover's arms around my body.
I feel like a goddess of ancient Hawai'i.
My feet touch the cold, wet grass,
A sign of the previous rainfall.
I pass by a waterfall in all its glory,
I want to bathe in it and share its power.
The water is so clear I can see my reflection.
The birds of Hawai'i sing to me a soft lullaby.
I sit on a rock so smooth as if sanded down by time.
I know that here is my heaven,
here is where I will make my peace.
fade awaytothe song of the 'o'u,
The delicate fragrance of the yellow ginger,
and the steady rhythm of the waterfall.
