Tech in your life

 

 


 

Overview: Unless you have willfully decided to live your life free from technology (largely impossible, since you are reading this on your computer and probably came to school today on a motorized vehicle), you will be exposed to technology on a constant basis until the day you die. This assignment tasks you to think about your exposure and reliance on technology—it is meant to make you critically assess the positives and negatives of your technological dependence.

Task One: Daily Usage

Using complete sentences, identify and discuss the technologies you use from the moment you get up to the moment you go to sleep. In other words, describe and depict your technological dependency during a 24 hour period.

Task Two: I Could Not Live Without .....

This task asks you to take a stand and make a decision—looking at your list of technologies you rely on, which one could you simply not live without? In other words, this would be the classic desert island paradigm–which technological device, which would still be in full working order and able to perform all of its tasks, do you truly rely upon the most, and its loss would be WHOLLY detrimental to your well being.

Extra-credit. I really want a...

This task asks you to be more creative. What technological innovation would you personally want to have to increase the convenience and enjoyment of your life? Your job is to consider a device that has not been invented yet that you would find personally "awesome."
