The Psychology Internship at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa's Counseling and Student Development Center provides a one-year (2000 hours), full-time, training experience for doctoral candidates in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. The CSDC internship embraces a philosophy of experiential learning and provides practitioner-scholar training. Interns receive training and supervision in our ten areas of competency:  professional development, ethics, multiculturalism, psychological assessment, individual psychotherapy, career counseling, crisis intervention, group counseling, clinical supervision, and outreach/evaluation/consultation. Emphases of the internship training program include:

  • College Student Development - facilitating the psychological development of university students.

  • Multicultural Competence - acquiring cultural awareness, knowledge, and skills within a diverse and international university community.

  • Counseling/Psychotherapy Integration - combining ideas and strategies from several different theories of counseling/psychotherapy.
