Applying for the Psychology Internship at CSDC-UHM:

QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATES

Candidates for the predoctoral Psychology Internship at the Counseling and Student Development Center, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, must be advanced doctoral candidates in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology. Courses in psychotherapy, assessment, career development, multicultural competence, and supervision are recommended. All candidates must have completed one year of practicum during which they provided individual psychotherapy. Your AAPI should document at least 500 intervention and assessment hours and a grand total of at least 1000 practicum hours.

APPLICATIONS

Application for the Predoctoral Psychology Internship at CSDC-UHM follows the AAPI (APPIC Application for Psychology Internship) process which is available at the APPIC (Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers) website (www.appic.org).

As part of the standard AAPI process, the following are required:

1. Letter: Letter of interest describing why you are applying for the predoctoral Psychology Internship at CSDC-UHM. Your letter should address your experience and interest in providing counseling and psychotherapy for university students in a multicultural setting.

2. Transcripts: Official transcripts of all graduate coursework in psychology must be sent by the University. You may want to send photocopies of your transcripts in case official transcripts are delayed.

3. Vita: Current vita including educational history, clinical/counseling experience, and a list of graduate courses taken to fulfill the requirements of your degree.

4. References: Three letters of reference from professionals who are familiar with your academic and clinical experience. At least one letter must be from a former clinical supervisor. If possible, these letters should be sent with the application in sealed envelopes signed by the writer.

Deadline for completion of the entire AAPI application is November 18, 2013.
