Aloha! E komo mai!

We’re glad you’re checking us out!

Here at CSDC we offer support to UH students, staff, and faculty to assist with personal, academic and career concerns.  Our approach is encouraging, collaborative, goal focused and culturally sensitive. We are here to help you develop more personal awareness and learn the skills you need to be successful while you are here at the University of Hawai‘i and beyond.

Going through life changes, choosing a major, making career decisions, becoming independent, relating well with others, being successful, and living meaningfully is inherently challenging and often difficult or distressing.   The built-in demands of academic life contribute to the overall stress we inevitably feel.   Juggling a course load while meeting all the other personal, social, and financial responsibilities we have can bring on discomfort, anxiety, depression, and other emotional or physical symptoms.   Our comprehensive counseling and psychological services are designed to be timely, accessible, preventative, and personalized to meet your individual needs.

Immediate “walk in” appointments for urgent or emergency / crisis services are available during our regular daily 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. hours.

All services are confidential and most are free of charge for Mānoa students.  We offer free consultation to faculty and staff on personal and student related issues as well.

CSDC is located on the third floor of the Queen Lili'uokalani Center for Student Services, at the heart of the Mānoa campus.

CSDC office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.  If you are living on-campus and need to reach a counselor after 4:30 p.m., there are counselors (i.e., Counselors-In-Residence or "CIRs") who are available for crises and emergencies after hours. These times are from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. on weekdays, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. CIRs can be reached through most housing staff members, including your Resident Assistant (RA), the RA on-call, or a Resident Director (RD). CIRs typically respond within 15 minutes, and arrive on-site to meet with students. Students that have an emergency or crisis, and are not living in the residence halls, may call the Suicide and Crisis Center (available 24 hours / 7 days a week) by dialing (808) 832-3100, or may call 911.

The center is interested in serving all UH students, faculty, and staff.  If you have any special accommodation needs, let the center know so that arrangements can be made that will work for you.
