1. Once your presentation has been converted to HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), you are ready to post it to the World Wide Web. This can be done via FTP (File Transfer Process).

2. Go to your email account, but instead of typing pine, type cd and press return.

3. Type the following: mkdir public_html and then press return.

4. Type the following entries in turn, where username means your respective name (mine would be cpeterse) and after each entry press return.

chmod a+x ~username

chmod a+x ~username/public_html

cd public_html

pwd

5. Open fetch, you can find this application by checking "Find File" under the apple menu , then open a new connection in Fetch.

6. Type uhunix5.its.hawaii.edu at the host prompt, your username and password at those two prompts and then leave the directory prompt blank.

7. Find the public_html file that you just made on your home directory, and double click to open it.

8. Click on Remote from the menubar at the top of the screen. Then click on "Put Folders and Files."

9. Choose the file or folder to be posted to the web and click "Add," and then click "Done."

10. The following screen will appear. Make sure the images are saved as "Raw Data," and the text saved as "Text." Then click on OK or press the return key.

11. When you have put all the documents from your PowerPoint® presentation onto Fetch you can view them in the browser by typing in http://www2.hawaii.edu/~username/first page.htm (where username is is your email user name and first page is the name of the first page of your PowerPoint® presentation).

12. If this does not work then it may mean that you have not made your home page, which can be accomplished by going into your uhunix email, and instead of typing pine at the prompt, type the following:

makemyhomepage

press return and then follow the directions on the screen.

13. Once your presentation has been posted to the Web via FTP, you can edit or delete it from your web site at any time.

14. To edit your presentation make the changes on your PowerPoint® Presentation and follow the same procedure as posting via FTP, and replace the existing file.

15. To delete your presentation highlight the file to be cleared, go to the Remote menu at the top of the page and highlight Delete Directory or File. The following screen will appear.

Then Press return, and the file will be deleted.
