The downward arrow to the
right of Autoshapes 
enables you to add your own features to the presentation with stars,
arrows, banners and basic shapes.
The commonly used tools;
line, arrow, rectangle, and oval, 
can also be accessed from the actual toolbar without having to select
them via the AutoShape.
The text box 
allows you to add text within the shapes.
The WordArt 
button allows you to write in a style selected from the WordArt
Gallery.
