Special Education Tuition Stipend
Introduction
As of August 15, 2000, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) and the Hawai‘i Department of Education (DOE) agreed to issue stipends to students enrolled in the B.Ed., Post-bac, and M.Ed. programs in Special Education. The recipient understands that this tuition stipend is being awarded as part of an effort on the part of the UH and DOE to address the shortage of qualified special education teachers in Hawaii. Therefore, upon completion of all program requirements, the recipient is expected to actively pursue licensure as a special education teacher and teach special education in the DOE.
