Special Education: Ph.D., Specialization in Exceptionalities
College Core (12 credits)
- Multiple Perspectives on Educational Research
- Qualitative Methods
- Quantitative Methods
- Advanced Methods for Dissertation Research
Exceptionalities Core (12 credits)
- Seminar on Exceptionalities (Repeated with different content)
- Single‑Case Experimental Design
- Grant Development and Procurement
Emphasis Area Products
- In depth review of the literature
- National or regional conference presentation
- Original field‑based research investigation or a research and development project
- Grant proposal for extramural funding
- Undergraduate or graduate‑level course instruction or professional development activities, and/or practicum supervision for at least one semester
Cognate Area (12-15 credits)
The Cognate field provides the student with an area of study in a discipline that complements his/her program of study.
Internship (3-6 credits)
The internship is individually designed to provide professional development experiences and an opportunity to demonstrate program competencies.
Dissertation
The doctoral dissertation is the culminating experience of the doctoral program and demonstrates the student’s ability to carry out scholarly research in Exceptionalities.
