(required of all students—15 credits, which includes one of the seminars listed below)
Course requirements for CSLS Specialization

	Students must take five of the following courses/seminars, including at least one seminar (Total of 12 credits, in addition to seminar):
	SLS 380 SLS 675 SLS 680-U SLS 680-P	Bilingual education Second language interpretive qualitative research Topics have included: Global English in use Topics have included: Critical issues in EFL; Critical pedagogy

	Seminars (choice of one minimum)
	SLS 730	Topics have included: Philosophy of second/foreign language teaching: critical perspectives; New literacies studies and second languages

	SLS 760	Topics have included: Critical approaches to global English; Hybridity in second language use

SLS 775

Seminar in second language qualitative research methods

Elective courses and scholarly work (thesis, scholarly paper) requirements
(As in MA Core—2 electives plus 6 credits of SLS 700 for Plan A, 4 electives for Plan B)

  For Plan A:
  Successful defense of MA thesis with CSLS emphasis

  For Plan B:
  Successful submission of scholarly paper with CSLS emphasis
