Elected to the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 1977, he became the first American Kung Fu artist to reach the top ten fighting list in the early seventies. From 1967 to 1975, he was a triple threat in competition: forms, weapons, and fighting. Listing all of his awards would take up pages. To name a few, he has been three times North American Grand Champion, Twice the Rocky Mountain Grand Champion, National Black Belt Lightweight Champion, Top Ten National Lightweight Champion, and Colorado State Grand Champion. In all of the International Karate Championships in Long Beach, he was the only person in its history to walk away with five trophies. They were: First Place in Lightweight Fighting, First Place in Forms, Most Total Points Accumulated Trophy, and the Best Sportsmanship Trophy.
He has been on the cover of over 35 National and International Martial Arts magazines. He has developed many major champions including: Karen Shepard, Eric Lee, Bill Owens, Christian Wulf, Karyn Turner and his own son Mark Dacascos.
