8/10
OK, fun's over. No more 5 percent assignments, now it's all 15 and 35 percent projects and I'm trying to find songs for the movement and singing project, songs that aren't insulting to children's intelligence (there's a song called "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing") or embarrassing to me (I just found a site that listed "YMCA" as a "fun children's singalong"!) or just plain iffy, like "Jimmy Crack Corn" (which is actually titled "Blue Tail Fly") and "Pick a Bale o' Cotton."
Before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my hi-there-girl Peahen who is 25 today. I hope she got my package and card bc she doesn't have a computer and will probably never read this. Also the last few times I called her she was at the clinic assisting with surgery and stuff. Beheading frozen dogs and stuff. Anyway, happy birthday to her.
I just tried to order a beach chair from amazon.com for my mom's birthday, one of those ones with a hole in the arm for a can of soda or water or whatever. I sat in one at the beach yesterday and it was so comfortable. I know my mom would love it. And I found a perfect one, but get this -- the company doesn't ship to AK or HI. Wah! Of course I'm just being supremely lazy. I can easily pick one up at Longs or if worse comes to worst, WalMart. Anyway I found a nice large Kong for Bentley to give her, and to make it worth my shipping I ordered some DVDs for my brother.
Kong toys, by the way, are really durable rubber toys that come in all different shapes and sizes and can be stuffed with treats and chewed up and subjected to all kinds of abuse by exuberant baby rottweilers. So actually the Kong is for B, but I know gramma will like it anyway because she's always buying him toys and things and they play outside early in the morning when the rest of us are still asleep.
Geez. I just almost bought a Wee Sing CD purely for sentimental reasons. I got acquainted with WS when I was entirely too old for it, because my brother had a lot of the tapes when he was a baby. He took those tapes everywhere, including on family vacations (the kind with long, long interstate drives.) The ones I've been particularly searching for are Wee Sing and Play (it was the "van tape," nobody was allowed to listen to anything else in the van), and Wee Sing Around the Campfire, which we brought with us to Yosemite one summer. I found Sing and Play (on CD! I was thrilled!) but no Campfire. Anyway since E's B has become an Ebay junkie I may ask him to check those out for me, although I thought the prices on the site I found were pretty good. ($11.99 for CD and songbook, plus free cassette.) I couldn't justify the shipping, though. Even though I quickly thought of a logical justification (pre-school in the fall! duh!) I abandoned my shopping cart and left the site. I've almost memorized my credit card number, and that can't be a good thing.
And why do I keep saying "in the fall" like it's so far off? Work starts in 11 days.
Damn.
11:30 p.m. Buffy is a rerun. Double-damn. I mean they're all reruns now I guess but damn anyway. The weekend ones are supposed to be completely random, but I've already seen this one (it's the sea monster one, with Xander in a Speedo.) And I've only been watching for a month, tops.
Guess it's back to the songbook.
