5/6

Happy Day after Boys Day. I am chomping my way through a box of chichidango that appeared on the counter this morning (even though tango no sekku was yesterday.) It's the greatest stuff, esp the pink (although both are supposed to taste the same, right?) I wonder if Nisshodo makes it all year round or just for Japanese holidays. I also wonder who always buys it for us since it's probably not my Japanese relatives.

Last night I took Bentley out to potty and found a rubber playground ball, one of those red ones, by the garage. It had Barbie on it. So I kicked it and B went running after it and he seemed to like it so much that i brought it in for him even though it was muddy and wet from the grass. We played in the kitchen for awhile, then I left him alone with it. A few minutes of bounces and bumps and small crashes later, I heard him barking. When I went to see what happened, the ball was in one corner of the kitchen and he was in the other, barking away. He looked very angry at the ball and scared of it too. Then I heard this high-pitched noise and went over to check the ball and sure enough, he had gotten his teeth into it and it was slowly deflating with a hiss and a gurgle. He kept on barking at it from his corner (I guess because of the weird noise it was making) and I couldn't stop laughing. It was so funny. Finally I had to take the ball away, though, because everyone else was sleeping.

When Brother Mart gets home we are supposed to make banana bread from the refrigerated-black bananas no one felt like eating. It always surprises me how something so yummy can be made from something so utterly disgusting. Guess I should get dressed to go pick up some walnuts.
