1/16 <-- i think it's the sixteenth. who can keep track of these things?
i'm letting it get to me. because it feels so good when it stops. i went to class tonight without a pen; i misplaced my debit card (what i get for letting the kids play with the ATM) but on the bright side, i have no money in the bank anyway. this is striking me as actually quite a dismal thing, so, on the real bright side, i used imaginary money (macy's gift card) to buy a cute belt today. when you can't take it anymore, go out and buy something stupid. with imaginary money.
mental snippets from tuesday's class aka math curriculum & methods aka The Sobfest: you mean this lump of paper is the syllabus? was her double-space function not working? what size font IS this? i need to calm down. why is she multiplying all those numbers? you mean you can multiply that many numbers at once? you mean everyone else in here knew that? she loves froebel and piaget? but we hate froebel and piaget!! she doesn't even have that cute german accent that fred savage used when he said "froebel was a fucking moron." is froebel even german?! STOP AMPING!! ... did i just say "amping"? ...
i actually felt the smile on my face freeze after the tra-la-la my name is Girl who Fears Math, what's yours? and the syllabi were distributed, three single-spaced pages (unstapled, so i took the top sheet and tried passing on the rest but Professor Fun gave Next Girl her OWN set of "Hell in Nine-point Font" and cackled at my ignorance. CACKLED.) then the smile fossil got chipped off and fell down and Professor Fun swept it into a dustpan and added it to her Certified Collection of Shattered Hopes.
i am giving a presentation on, uh, something next week. isn't that great?
"technology," on the other hand, will consist of creating word documents and power point presentations, and learning how to use a Smart Board. it's like sipping mountain dew through a red vine straw, whereas Math Curr. is kind of like an endless mud buffet. not to make hasty judgments or anything.
i know i can get an A for "technology" and i know i can get one for math (grade: A. comments: eats mud nicely!) and i KNOW it will require me to hand over whatever free time is left after work, work, and school are subtracted. but one good thing is that by the time i leave for SF i will feel ENTITLED to a long weekend away and it won't seem like such a frivolous expenditure anymore (not that I was feeling very guilty about it.)
