"i said see ya later boy, i'll be backstage after the show"

reads: Victoria's Secret sales/clearance catalog. Frommers southeast asia. old harper's bazaar with ben affleck and sandra bullock on cover.

observations: Breasts are a great accessory. there's more to komodo than carnivorous lizards. and, after most careful consideration -- it's really impossible to overrate ben affleck.

I am studying for my midterm.

9/26

i FROZE. I hate that. the wordy questions threw me off. I made at least two dumb mistakes which I discovered as soon as I left the room and flipped open my notes. But out of 50 questions those two are the only ones I know for sure I got wrong. Grades will be posted next class. aside from midterm jitters, being a freshman again is cool. there are lots of opportunities and bona-fide good reasons to drink soda.

"We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors ... but they all exist very nicely in the same box."

I studied at Sinclair today. I guess I haven't been gone that long -- the place is still hot and the furniture is still dirty. I settled right in with my notes and extra-sharp no. 2 pencils and got nostalgic over the sweet scent of academic mildew.

I went to Ala Moana to take my mind off the test (pick an excuse, any excuse). my favorite basic sandal (callisto rory) is on sale at macy's, but all they had was brown and black and an irritating saleslady (you know, the kind who insists you're not the size you say you are, though you are wearing the size you say you are and it's a perfect fit.) I ran into a Kiddiepark parent outside Gap. Tutoring gig! Yay!

Brother Mart's report card is in. When exactly he started getting straight A's I don't know, but I'm really proud of him despite my mom wondering why my study habits suck when my little brother's are so great, nevermind that i'm a college student (again) and it's really none of her business whether I study with my eyes half-closed. But like I was saying, I'm really proud of my brother, seriously. I guess sometimes we still think of him in his earliest years at MGS, which were a real struggle for him and by extension for all of us. He's come a long way, in terms of finding his own motivation to succeed in school. His lao shi calls him a gifted calligrapher. hrm, guess crappy handwriting in one language does not necessarily mean crappy handwriting in another. He's leaving on the 17th of Oct. Was thinking about giving him money for fake designer watches and handbags and stuff. actually, though, my most precious nightmarket find was these really durable microfiber socks.

I love it that the midterms and final in this class aren't cumulative. I shall revel in (on?) the tabula rasa and go to sleep now, having nothing to study tonight.
