Class Assignment (Pearl Harbor)*
worth 10 points
Our class will meet at the Pearl Harbor visitor center** on Saturday, January 31st at 8:00 a.m. to hear from an eye witness of the attack on December 7, 1941, tour the new museum, watch the video, and go on the short boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial. We should be done by 12:00 noon. After this experience, please answer the following questions. Due: Feb. 5th
1. If there is one question you could ask of a Pearl Harbor survivor, what would it be? After listening to eye witness accounts, would you still want to ask that question? Why or why not?
2. What artifacts or exhibits stood out for you as you toured the museum? Feel free to take a picture and attach it.
3. Do you think watching the video added to your experience at the USS Arizona Memorial itself? Explain.
4. Please provide a brief mahalo message to the men who shared their experiences with us and/or those who coordinated our morning's activities. Use at least one specific example and explain how it has impacted you. I will compile these, attach my thank you letter, and mail it to them.
*If you can’t visit Pearl Harbor with our class on Saturday (1/31), then you’re welcome to visit on your own time. I will continue to accept this assignment without penalty while we’re still working on unit one.
**Camera's are allowed, but camera bags are not. Camera bags are restricted along with purses, backpacks, fanny packs, and other luggage due to increased security measures. Bags may be checked into baggage storage at the USS Bowfin Park for a fee.
