Below is a description of the workshops you will see on the KCC Faculty Development Calendar. Please visit the CELTT center for more information. Workshops are also regularly announced in the KCC Campus Bulletin.

Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs)
CATs encourage faculty to improve their teaching and their students' learning through the use of quick, informal methods of student feedback. CATs can be used to guide future lesson plans or as a basis for classroom-based research. Information on CATs is also available at CELTT.

Hawai'i Writing Project Summer WAC Institutes
Community college faculty get together for two weeks in the summer to learn techniques to promote writing in their classes, across disciplines. Other Hawaii Writing Project Institutes open to college faculty include: WAC Assessment Institute, WAC Technology Institute, Literature Institute.

Holomua Fridays
The Holomua (Developmental Studies) Department holds an open pot-luck gathering (with wine) for collegial discussion of topics relevant to working with KCC’s developmental student population. Whether or not you teach a developmental class, this is a great place to meet Holomua Faculty and learn about KCC students. Please check KCC Bulletin for announcements.

Teaching and Learning with Electronic Networked Technology (TALENT) and Web Course Tools (WebCT)

Teaching and Learning Series
This 5-workshop series is based on a faculty-created video, TITLE, which covers some of the basic challenges of classroom teaching. Topics include: establishing rapport, giving feedback, empowering students.

Teachers Talking To Teachers About Teaching (4Ts)
At the 4Ts, faculty from all disciplines discuss classroom concerns such as: how to handle disruptive students, testing, motivating students, using collaborative groups. Meetings are held once a month; check the Campus Bulletin for information.

T.H.I.N.K.

The Hidden Intellectual Network of Kapi’olani
Informal faculty presentations related to content area or other interests of faculty members.
