Crayon Shinchan is currently one of the highest rated shows in
Japan. Each episode is 30-minutes long, and is broken up into 3
ten minute cartoons, showing the life and times of Shin-chan. You
can personally view Crayon Shinchan here in Hawaii. Crayon
Shinchan is on, every Saturday at 7:30pm on Kiku channel 9.
Crayon Shinchan made his first appearence in a weekly magna
publication, Action. This magna was drawn by Yoshito
Usui. Ever since the first Action magna came out, it has been a
hit...due to the popularity of Crayon Shinchan, there has been a
release of 6 volumes (and 20 million copies) of Crayon Shinchan
Magna. Now there is even a Crayon Shinchan movie.
Crayon shinchan has gained a lot of attention, by such sources as
the Wall Street Journal and the Honolulu Advertiser.
The Wall Street Journal called it "Japan's Answer to Beavis
and Butthead" by: Maggie Kinser Saiki. It refered to it as
this because of Shinchan's speech and actions. The Honolulu
Advertiser called their article: "Make Way for 'Shinchan':
Japan's Animated Bad Boy in Isle Debut Tomorrow" by: Wayne
Harada.
~Honolulu--Move
over, Bart Simpson. Consider retirement, Kikaida. Make room for
another hero, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. (Honolulu Advertiser)
