Chip Tricks

Chip tricks is a fun way to keep yourself occupied as people are taking their turns around the table. Some people have become experts at the manipulation of chips. Doing chip tricks at a poker table can intimidate your players because it says that you play with chips often, therefore implying that you play a lot of poker.

Glasses

A lot of people use glasses as a part of their poker face in an attempt to hide any clues that their eyes may give away. People who play the game on a professional level tend to have fun with this idea by wearing dinosaur eye, hologram glasses (WSOP 2004 winner, Raymer) or just big, silly, colorful glasses.

Online Poker

Many amateur, and professional, poker players chose to play online at different poker sites such as True Poker, PokerStars, etc. If you ever watch ESPN during the WSOP, you will see many professional players sporting gear on their favorite online poker site. However, a new law has been passed making it illegal for Hawaii residents to participate in online gambling for real money. Fortunately, there are no rules against playing online poker with fake money. In fact, this is one of the best ways to improve your game without going home with an empty wallet.

 

World Series of Poker (WSOP)

The World Series of Poker is played has been played every year since 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The sport of Poker playing has had a major increase in participants within the last few years. In fact, within the last 3 years, the number of entrants for the main event have increased from a little less than 1,000 people to over 8,000 people. The prize money has also increased proportionately from about $2.5 million in 2003 to the $12 million that was won by the 2006 champion, Jamie Gold. The amazing part of all of this, is the fact that in order to participate in the main event, you need to come up with a $10,000 entrance fee. How many of you are willing to put that much on the line?
