Poker Etiquette

If you don’t want to get kicked out of a game,

make sure you remember to play nice.

Don’t Act Out of Turn

Always wait until it’s your turn to go before you make any decisions concerning your hand and your bets. If you fold or make a bet before your turn comes up, you could possibly change the outcome of another players’ decision. Folding out of turn tends to annoy people the most.

Don’t String Bet

When your turn comes around and you decide to bet, never string bet. This is when you call the current blinds/bet and then you reach for a raise. You should always announce to everyone that you want to bet/raise before you call the current bet. If you fail to do so, the person after you may think you’re done and go on with his call/bet.

Don’t Touch the Kitty

Never ever touch any of the money once it has been put in the pot/kitty. It’s like going through someone’s piggy bank just because you felt like it. If you need to get change from the kitty, you should always make sure someone is paying attention and make an obvious switch so not to confuse anyone.

Don’t Be Salty

If on the river you decide not to call the last bet, don’t demand to see your opponent’s cards. If they don’t want to show you what they had and you didn’t call, then too bad for you. Also, if you lose, don’t get all sore about it. Learn from your mistakes and move on.
