| Research Project: Our penultimate assignment for this english 100 course was none other than a straightforward research paper. However, just how this course revolves around the idea of sustainability, this research paper had to be on a sustainability topic of our choice as well. Picking and sticking with one topic proved to be the biggest hurdle on my path to producing a quality product due to my great indecision. However, since eating healthy came to my attention a whole lot during my first semester of college, I finally decided to focus on the food industry (fast food corporations to be precise). Professor Jim sectioned off two weeks for us to collect all of our data, and he even devoted class time to focus on the process of collecting reasources and choosing the best ones to use. I don't think my paper would have been as informational and complete without the various workshops and intelligence from the librarians and library staff. After I did my initial research, I realized that the amount and quality of my sources was not anywhere close to being up to par, thus I had to go back for a second serving. Then came the actual writing process which also took many hours and stressful days to complete. The requirements for our sustainability research paper were: a minimum of 8-10 pages double spaced, an abudant amount of resources, a works cited page in MLA format, and meta-commentary. With the exception of my e-portfolio, the research project caused the most pain and hardship during this english 100 course. I hope my efforts will not be in vain and people will enjoy and also evaluate their lives after reading my paper. Learning: My sustainability research paper regarding fast food and a healthy lifestyle has been the most arduous task of all the various assignments this semester. Not only did it require us to do a tremendous amount of research, but it also called upon us to write in a professional and scholarly manner previously unknown to us. Our sources had to be mostly scholarly and trustworthy so that our readers would have no doubts when the fact were presented to them. Professor Henry designed these assignments to develop all of us as an all around writer able to write in a variety of ways. And a research paper is one of the most essential styles of writing that is very important to future jobs after college. Lastly, receiving feedback from Lehua and my peers in class allowed me to gain valuable insight to complete this sustainability research paper.
