Editing:

Starting from the first day I stepped into the Kuykendall 308 classroom for the beginning of the semester, Professor Jim always emphasized the importance of editing.  The biggest adjustment I was forced to make upon my leap from high school to college was the editing process.  Beginning with the gro-biography (first assignment), we were trained to peer review our classmates' drafts and develop the tools necessary to become a competent writer.  As the first portfolio conference came and went, I realized that editing was by far my weakest link of the writing process; I made silly mistakes due to lack of proof reading, did not use my editing checklist, etc.  Then during the mapping project, my friend I interviewed re-introduced the importance of editing to me.  From that point on I made a conscience effort to strengthen my editing skills, and especially to take the time to proof read.  Editing is most of the time looked down upon and majorly downplayed by teachers and students alike, but through this course, I have learned its great importance in writing.  I will definitely retain and continue to tweak this skill in the future.
