Sea World Camp

All my Friends at Camp

In the Summer of '98 I spent a week at camp at Sea World of San Antonio, Texas.  There I learned the techniques used in training and caring for all of the marine mammals at the parks.  We spent each morning in different areas. On some days we would begin by preparing the food for the animals. This always left us with a fishy smell.

Taking care of the animals was an important skill we learned.  The trainers showed us how to properly examine the animals as seen above.  We got to observe the daily weighing of the killer whales as well as the weekly physicals they undergo.

In the evenings after working all day, the counselors would plan different activities, from watching movies, to going out and playing mini-golf.  We got to visit the Alamo as well as see the downtown areas in San Antonio.
