freestyle motocross
Freestyle motocross is a rapidly evolving sport. with some riders doing backflips now tricks like this heelclicker are outdated. this sport can lead to some serious injuries if you are not careful. these professional riders make it look easy, but they have all payed their dues.
This is a trick called a "rock solid" created by nate adams. The rider gets up in the air then grabs his bike, then lets go again giving the appearance he is floating over his bike. This is one of the more difficult tricks in freestyle motocross. There is quite a few riders doing this trick now, but there is only a couple that make it look as good as Kenny Bartram in this picture.
The picture below is called a "cracknack",The rider gets in the air and whips the motorcycle sideways while jumping off and going completely horizontal to the motorcycle. this is one of the scariest tricks on a dirtbike. It has evolved from a normal nac nac which is where the rider takes one foot over to the other side of the bike and now they are throwing their whole bodies over to the other side of the bike. Freestyle motocross only started a couple years ago with riders taking one or two feet off the footpegs. Innovative young riders such as Mike Metzger, Carey Heart and Tommy Clowers have made this sport into what it is today. Everything is different now from the riders to the motorcycles that they ride. The bikes look brand new when they get them and the riders make them into what is in some of these pictures.
This is a picture of a brand new bike before the riders get their hands on it. the bike here is a 2002 Honda CR250. This bike stock goes about 75 mph and gets decent low, mid and full throttle response. Some of the aftermarket changes that riders will make to their bikes is a different pipe, handlebars, triple clamps, suspension, motor modifications and wheels. The main thing that freestylers do is cut their plastics to grab on to and make it easier to move around the bike. The seat is also shaved lower in order for the rider to grab on to it. Freestyle riders do not necessarily go for as much speed as racers do, so they tend to leave the engines stock. The most important thing in freestyle is that the engine runs smooth with good bottom end power. The rider also has to make sure the bike is not running to rich or too lean, this could cause a serious crash.
