Research
Dr. Baker’s research is focused on understanding the causes of and strategies for preventing violence against women and children. Specifically, she examines how individual, family, community, systems, and societal factors influence social problems, and in particular emphasizes the intersection of social problems; e.g., domestic violence and homelessness; violence against women and child maltreatment. Dr. Baker's current line of research is focused on developing and evaluating culturally appropriate intervention strategies for women and children to prevent the occurrence and/or long-term effects of violence exposure.
