This page lists down the news that may have an affect on the UH Art Department's future. 

- The results of an art student survey are in.  The survey was conducted by Cindy Jacks and Kaui Chun as a part of their Art 301 project for the Spring 1998 semester.  In the free-writing section, students voiced their concerns about the art curriculum.

-The first art THIS! Off-Line Exhibit was held April 14th, 1998.  Check out the pictures. 

-Next semester, 15 art classes will be dropped.  This will make it harder for student to graduate earlier. The list of dropped classes will be posted near the art office bulletin. 

- Prof. Goldberg accepted another teaching position at an east-coast university.  Consequently, Art 302 Summer Session is being taught by Prof. Pat Wood. 

- Design portfilio review was held Tuesday, April 21, 1998. 

- Photography portfilio review was held Monday, April 27, 1998. 

- Undergrad Art Show in the Main Art Gallery will exhibit from May 4-25,1998. 

- Kim Yasuda's seminar was held Wednesday April 22, 1998, 7:30 pm at the Art Auditorium. 

- Scholarship exhibition the week of May 4, 1998, in the Commons Gallery. 

- The tuition will increase again.  We seem to be getting cuts and paying more tuition to attend UH, so why arn't we benefiting from this. 

- Attention!  The first department of art faculty meeting open to all students!  Understanding the implications of the numerous proposed changes and cuts to UH.  Meeting was conducted by Peter Manicas (director of liberal studies and professor of sociology).  The meeting took place Wednesday, April 15, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm in the art auditorium. 

- 6 faculty members will be on sabatical leave next semester.
