Our four-year project “Diversity and Evolution of Fungal Foliar Endophytes in Native Hawaiian Plants” was funded by NSF. In collaboration with Brian Perry from UH Hilo, we’ll sample as many endemic Dicot genera as possible across the major Hawaiian Islands to look at environmental and evolutionary patterns of community assembly.

Welcome Susan Alford, our new lab manager, fresh off the boat (literally)!
Our lab was funded to study the (fungal) diet of one of Hawaii’s critically endangered tree snail species. Apparently this involves flying around in a helicopter!

Our paper on global biogeography patterns of ocean Bacteria was accepted in The Journal of Biogeography.
