Model proposed to explain TRP1 RI high copy number of pNEW.

In the diagram a weak transcription (TXN) complex is formed over the partial promoter included in the TRP1 RI circle. This leads to reduced levels of expression which force the cell to increase copy number of the plasmid in order to meet nutritional requirements.
