TRANSFERRING A VOYAGER PRELIM RECORD TO CATME FOR UPLOADING TO OCLC

1. Open Netscape

Go to WebVoyage: http://uhmanoa.lib.hawaii.edu/

Make a search and access a record

Under "Output records(s) on this screen":
Select 'MARC encoded' format [click radio button]
Save to file [click 'print or save display' icon]
Click 'file', click 'save as'
Change 'save in' path to C:\oclcapps\catme\
Enter filename with .dat extension [example: vgr.dat]
Click 'save'
Answer 'Y' to 'replace existing file?' if there is one

2. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer

Access the file that was saved
Rename the file to eliminate the *.cgi extension
Example: vgr.dat.cgi to vgr.dat

3. Open CatME

Click 'tools', click 'import'
Highlight filename [example: vgr.dat]
Click 'open'
[message 'Bibliographic records imported']
Click 'ok'
Answer 'Y' or 'N'
[recommend 'N' to reuse existing *.dat file for next import]
Save record to CatME
