TRANSFERRING A VOYAGER RECORD TO PASSPORT FOR UPLOADING TO OCLC

Before you begin, contact me for the macro book from Gary Strawn, Northwestern University Library.

Setup Windows: (only do this once)
Copy the Mrc2oclv.mbk to the C:\Oclcapps\PASSPORT\ folder.

Setup Passport: (only do this once)
Assign user tool '3' to the MRC2OCLV!MARC2OCLC macro:
click 'tools', click 'customize', click 'toolbar'
click the drop down menu arrow next to 'user tool 3'
scroll down and highlight Macro:MRC2OCLV!MARC2OCLC
click 'ok' (The '3' button in the toolbar should be yellow)

Setup Voyager: (only do this once)
Change the workfile bib path to: C:\Oclcapps\import.bib
click 'options', click 'preferences', click 'folders/files'
in the upper right corner under 'work files', click the down arrow next to the 'bib' space
copy and paste the path C:\Oclcapps\import.bib into the space
click 'ok'

In Voyager:
complete the cataloging of your record
save the record to the database
save the record to the import.bib file (click 'save' icon)
click 'ok' to the 'record was saved' prompt

In Passport:
logon
click the user tool '3' button, wait for the record to build from the workform
validate, correct any errors, validate again
update and export (u;xpo F11)

In Voyager:
click 'record', click 'import' (the imported record title should be listed and highlighted)
click 'ok', click 'window', click 'tile'

copy the 035 from the imported record and paste it into the existing Voyager record
save the Voyager record, click the imported record, save the imported record
You will see a duplicate detection screen
The duplicate should be the existing Voyager record, which matched on the 035 with the same OCLC record number
click 'merge/replace'
The Voyager record should disappear, having been replaced by the the imported record, retaining the same Voyager ID number
