The Office of Special Services (OSS) is an integral part of the Language Learning Center located in Moore Hall, room 251. The OSS is responsible for providing specialized artistic and educational support services to all departments and units in the College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature.

Language Teaching Materials (top) 

If you require illustrations, artwork or graphics for your coursework, the OSS can assist you with your needs:
  • Visual teaching materials are produced upon request for foreign language classes.
  • Services available for European, East Asian, Hawaiian and Indo-Pacific languages and many others.
  • Teaching material can be used for dialogue teaching, grammar, cultural awareness, history lessons, social customs, geography, scenarios, etc.

Promotional Materials (top)

Promotional material can be requested for the following:
  • Course advertisement
  • Special academic/departmental events
  • Announcements

Illustrations(top)

Illustrations can be provided for the following:
  • Books
  • Publications
  • Cover designs

Production Procedure (top)

After the request has been submitted, the actual production procedure involves the following: 
  • Meetings are required with requester to analyze and discuss the most suitable format for the product.
  • Research is sometimes required.
  • Ongoing evaluation occurs with requester to ensure project will meet objectives or goals.
  • Changes are made to drafts to satisfy requester.
  • After final consent from requester, the final draft is completed (e.g. color finish, illustrations board, calligraphy, posters, photos, or any combinations, etc).

Digital Media (top)

Some forms of production can also be done in digital formats such as scanned images or art work done with graphics software.

Service Request Form (top)

  • Obtain form from Moore 256 or download PDF file here and provide specific instructions for production.
  • You must specify what you require such as posters, illustrations, photos, transparencies, calligraphy or any combinations.
  • You may need to provide additional information for reference to assist OSS in the production process such as photographs, books, or other supplemental materials.
