Kappa Sigma Chi formerly Yang Chung Hui (YCH) Sorority,
was initiated as the first sorority on the UH Manoa campus in 1924 under
the advisement of Mr. Ko Fong Lum and Dr. Shao Chang Lee. Although of
cultural background, YCH has strived for a cosmopolitan outlook, and as a
result we have changed the sorority's name to Kappa Sigma Chi.
By definition, a sorority is a "club of women," generally
found in a
college. To the members of Kappa Sigma Chi, the word "sorority" means
Ku'ikahi (Unity), Self-Enhancement, and Charity. Throughout the year we
organize sisterhood functions, service projects, academice and
self-improvement workshops, social events with fraternities, and conduct
fundraisers. Even with our busy schedules, we manage to make our academic
studies our main priority. In the past, we have won the Inter-Sorority
Council's "Highest Grade Point Average Award."
If you want to make your college life memorable and unique, become part of
Kappa Sigma Chi Sorority where each young woman is recognized as an
individual and is afforded the opportunity to develop her own special
interests and talents. We look forward to you joining our sisterhood.
