Personal

I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, where I did most of my primary schooling and all of my secondary schooling.  I did my GCE O levels and A levels (Economics, Computer Science and Mathematics) before going to UCLA in 1990.

Education

  • B.A. Linguistics, 1994, UCLA
  • Ed.M. (Human Development and Psychology), 1995, Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
  • Ph.D Applied Linguistics, 2002, UCLA (advisor Nina Hyams).
