Mission The three member institutions of the Hawaii Institute for Educational Partnerships (HIEP) are committed to the simultaneous renewal of teacher education and of schools, with a shared commitment to the broad aims of public education. Those aims include preparing citizens for a democratic society; nurturing the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of students; providing equal educational opportunity for all, and assuming responsibility for the quality of our schools. HIEP serves three basic functions: 1. To support and facilitate the collaborative activities of the three member institutions in meeting their common goals. 2. To support and facilitate the participation of its member institutions in the broader national conversation on quality education for all and on the effective inservice and preservice preparation of educators. 3. To support inquiry on education issues and to identify and disseminate policy implications that emerge from the inquiry. Last Updated: December 23, 2005 |
