What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up?
by GEAR UP staff Writer
Making an inventory of what interests you is a good way to figure out
your major in college and what career you’d like to pursue in the
future. Making a list of subjects that interest you or a list of activities
that you like doing (in school and for fun) are good ways to brainstorm
ideas for college majors and careers.
There are many sources for this type of information. Your guidance classes,
reference books in the libraries, and Internet searches provide a wealth
of knowledge in planning your future. Here is a possible format and a
few examples for making a catalog of your interests and seeing how they
relate to future possible college majors and careers.

What if I don’t really like any subject in school?
If you don’t like any of the core subject classes at school like
math, english, and social studies, it doesn’t mean you can’t
find a major in college or a career that truly satisfies you. Here are
some examples to get your mind thinking as to what college majors and
careers can coincide with some of your other interests.
Remember that these are just some examples, and that you are open to think
of other options. You can do research on the internet, and in the reference
section of the library for more ideas.
