Removable baseboards
Double-wall termite inspection made easy |
The double-wall construction of many homes presents a
problem when it comes to termite inspection. Plumbing penetrations, sill
plates, and wall studs are sealed in the double-wall voids, and are thus
difficult to inspect. An innovative product has been developed to help simplify
this traditionally troublesome inspection process.
 |
|
A recent development which aids double-wall inspection is the
use of removable baseboards. Developed by P.I.M. Development, Inc. of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Snap
On BaseboardsTM provide a nondestructive means of inspecting
structural elements hidden within double-wall voids. The baseboard units
are extruded PVC with inject-molded clips that snap into molded grooves
on the rear surface. |
The units can be installed during construction or retrofitted to
existing structures. During construction, the interior drywall sheets
are attached to the studs leaving a 3 inch gap above the finished floor.
For retrofits, the drywall is cut 3 inches above the finished floor.
