members are available to present workshops and classroom presentations on
a wide variety of topics related to college success. These programs

Workshops
Stress Management
Stress is an unavoidable part of college life. This workshop will
examine different strategies used to decrease stress and help participants
choose ways to better manage the stress in their lives.
Time Management
Time is finite but the demands on one's time often seem infinite.
Learning to balance school, work, and other demands is necessary for
academic success. We could assist you in exploring effective time
management strategies.
Creating College Success through
Wellness
Students can create balance and success by learning about them and then
setting personal goals related to six areas of wellness: (1) social, (2)
occupational, (3) emotional, (4) intellectual, (5) physical, and (6)
spiritual wellness.
Introduction to Career Planning and
Decision Making
Choosing an appropriate academic major and career path are important
decisions for university students. This workshop will introduce
career planning concepts and theories and highlight resources on campus.
Building Friendships and Relationships
The university campus can be a lonely place unless you know how to meet
people and build relationships. We could offer assistance in
focusing on skills and processes that allow everyone to meet people and
build better friendships.
Understanding your Family
Near or far, good or bad, our family legacy continues to impact us
throughout our life. We could offer assistance in exploring common
patterns of family dynamics and how these patterns impact us throughout
life.
Understanding your Personality
Each of us have unique talents and strengths that we can use to our
advantage. By learning about personality using the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator (MBTI), workshop participants can identify their own personal
strengths.
Faculty & Staff
Development Workshops
CSDC staff members are available
to present faculty and staff development workshops on a variety of topics.
These programs can be requested for your faculty or staff group.
Basic Counseling/Peer
Counseling Skills
We know that basic skills assist us in developing relationships.
We could assist you, your students, or staff in developing these types of
skills in working with others.
Identifying and Helping
Students with Problems
College students may encounter a variety of problems related to learning,
emotions, social relationships, or substance abuse. Sometimes it may
be difficult to know what is affecting a student's academic performance.
The focus would be to discuss some of the common concerns that students
face and focus on skills for recognizing problems and helping students.
Skills include awareness, listening, problem-solving, and referral.
Campus resources which can support you will also be discussed.
Dealing with Difficult
People
When under stress, people sometimes react with strong emotions or
unpredictable behavior. It is difficult for most people to know how
to react to those under stress. We would assist you in identifying
common patterns of stress-related behavior and how such situations can be
dealt with effectively. Appropriate responses such as assertiveness,
problem-solving, limit-setting, and gaining support will be presented.
Experiential Learning
Inside and Outside the Classroom
Many faculty and staff use experiential learning activities in classes or
present workshops on campus. We could assist you in developing
experiential learning strategies and applying it to classroom and workshop
settings. The focus will be on identifying activities that you could
use in your classroom or workshop.
Personal Wellness for
Faculty and Staff
A balanced and healthy lifestyle is something for which we all aspire.
However, there are many pressures and stresses that sometimes interfere
with our sense of balance and wellness. The focus would be in
discussing strategies for achieving and maintaining personal goals related
to intellectual, emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and occupational
wellness.
Consultation
CSDC can help students, staff, or faculty
members solve organizational problems, overcome interpersonal
difficulties, and plan staff development programs. Additionally, you
may wish to consult with our staff if you are troubled by organizational
discord or are concerned about the behavior of a student or associate.
All consultations are confidential, and you do not need to reveal any
identifying information about the person who is causing your concern.
Crisis/Conflict Consultation
There are times when we need support before or during a crisis. We
could assist you in these matters that may arise when people are feeling
stressed, sad, or frightened.
Outreach
National/Local Awareness Events
CSDC believes in equality and diversity, demonstrated through our
commitment to support awareness through participation and instigation of
awareness regarding societal issues. We will be supporting and
creating visibility projects to bring awareness of issues to student
populations. In the past, CSDC has participated in events such as
the National Depression Screening Day and the Campus Center's Condom Fair.
